Day 2. City Sights, Beaches, Luncheon Cruise
The morning is free to explore Sydney’s delights. At midday, board a boat for your luncheon cruise on one of the world’s most beautiful harbours. See the waterside homes of the wealthy and enjoy the gateway to Australia. After your cruise, take in the city sights including Hyde Park, the Royal Botanic Gardens and the national museum. Continue on to view the world-famous Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Capture the views from Mrs Macquarie’s Chair then walk along famous Bondi Beach before driving through bohemian Kings Cross.

Day 3. Blue Mountains, Koalas
Tour the spectacular Blue Mountains and view the sandstone pillars of the Three Sisters. Perhaps ride aboard the Cableway or Scenic Railway (own expense). In the afternoon, visit an Australian wildlife park and perhaps have your photo taken with a cuddly koala (own expense). If you wish, you may replace the Blue Mountains tour with any other APT day tour (change can only be made once you are in Sydney).

Sit down for a hearty spit roast lunch at Fergusson’s Winery, chatting with local winemakers and tasting local wines. Day 4. Melbourne

4 or 5 Day Cairns, Great Barrier Reef

Spend 4, or 5 days exploring the sights of Far North Queensland from the city of Cairns. Highlights include a full day cruise on the Great Barrier Reef and travelling by Skyrail Cableway for spectacular views over the rainforest canopy to Kuranda.

Day 1. Cairns

Day 2. Great Barrier Reef Cruise
Cruise to the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef. The reef is visible from outer space and composed of more than 2,800 individual reefs. Travel aboard Reef Magic Cruises’ catamaran and enjoy privileged access to one of the reef’s pristine locations. Snorkel with tropical fish, visit the Underwater Reef Viewing Observatory, or board a helicopter for a scenic flight over the reef (own expense). Enjoy a tropical buffet lunch on board the catamaran before cruising back to Cairns.

Day 3. Skyrail, Rainforestation, Pamagirri Dancers, Kuranda Train
Ride the Kuranda Skyrail cableway above the rainforest. You can disembark at two mid-stations and explore the environment. Then join a ranger on the boardwalk tour, see Barron Falls and visit the Interpretive Centre. Later, visit Rainforestation. See a traditional performance by the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dancers and set out on a Dreamtime Walk. See spear throwing, didgeridoo playing and try throwing a boomerang. Ride the Army Duck into the rainforest. Visit the wildlife park and have your photo taken with a koala (optional, own expense). Then join the Kuranda Scenic Railway, winding along a magnificent mountain range.

Day 4. Cape Tribulation, Port Douglas, Daintree River Cruise
4 Day guests depart tour and transfer to the airport. Take a scenic coastal drive to Port Douglas via the Captain Cook Highway. Explore the Rainforest Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary, with a guided tour through three wildlife environments: rainforest, wetlands and grasslands. Relax with a morning tea before a guided walk to Mossman Gorge. Cross the Daintree River into Daintree National Park. Enjoy a tropical buffet lunch and stroll along the beach with magnificent views of this World Heritage-listed site - where the oldest rainforest in the world meets the Great Barrier Reef. On a tour, visit the School of the Air and the Royal Flying Doctor Service Base, two organizations providing education and medical care to the most remote areas of Central Australia. See the dry Todd River and take in great views from Anzac Hill.

This afternoon, visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre and Maruku Arts and Craft Cooperative, dedicated to interpreting Anangu culture and law. Travel to the waterhole of Mutitjulu for a guided walk, viewing ancient cave paintings. Join the guided Mala Walk to learn the story of the Mala (Hare Wallaby) people who once lived at Uluru. As you tour the base of Uluru, visit Kantju Gorge, a waterhole and old hunting ground. Tonight admire the magnificent view of the sun setting at Uluru as you enjoy a glass of wine.

Day 6. Uluru Sunrise, Kata Tjuta (Olgas)
Rise early and enter Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park to witness Uluru at sunrise. Travel to the western section of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park to the immense 36 rock domes of Kata Tjuta. Enjoy a guided walk into Walpa (Olga) Gorge. Marvel at the sheer walls that flank you as you enter the gorge. Learn of the domes’ formation and of the wildlife of the region. Day 7. Uluru, Cairns
Spend the morning at leisure. Perhaps take a stroll around the resort or shop for souvenirs before flying to Cairns (airfare not included) and be met on arrival in this tropical city.

Day 8. Great Barrier Reef Cruise

Witness spear-throwing, didgeridoo-playing and try your hand at throwing a boomerang. Visit the wildlife park and see kangaroos, crocodiles, snakes and wombats. Day 1. Sea Lions Guided Beach Walk, Kangaroos, Koalas, Wetlands Birdlife Depart Adelaide by air arriving on Kangaroo Island by 9.45 a.m. Meet your guide for an introduction to Kangaroo Island before heading out in search of wildlife encounters. Your guide will help you spot kangaroos, koalas and echidnas in the wild. A highlight today is a guided beach walk at Seal Bay, home to a colony of Australian sea lions. See these fascinating mammals up close, as they bask on the beach or in the dunes. Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch in the bush, followed by a bushwalk. Day 2. Flinders Chase National Park, Remarkable Rocks, Koalas, Fur Seals Discover the wonders of Flinders Chase National Park. See at close range the New Zealand fur seals that inhabit these waters and view the unique geological formations of Admirals Arch and Remarkable Rocks. Enjoy a picnic lunch in a bush setting, sampling island foods and South Australian wines. Later, explore the Rocky River region to see yet more wildlife. At Hanson Bay Sanctuary, we search for koalas, then, by special permit, we enter the Kelly Hill Conservation Park. Day 1. Ayers Rock Resort, Kata Tjuta (Olgas), Olga Gorge, Uluru (Ayers Rock) Sunset Drinks Welcomed on arrival at Ayers Rock Airport prior to 1.00 p.m. Travel to Kata Tjuta (Olgas) and walk into Olga Gorge. Enjoy sunset drinks at Uluru (Ayers Rock).

Day 2. Sunrise at Uluru (Ayers Rock), Mala Walk, Kings Canyon Enjoy a coffee or tea while viewing the sunrise over Uluru (Ayers Rock), then take a walk to Mutitjulu waterhole. In place of sunrise and Mutitjulu, you can opt to climb Uluru. Later, join the guided Mala Walk, exploring art sites and plant life. Drive to Kings Canyon. Accommodation: Kings Canyon Resort - Lodge
Day 3. Kings Canyon, Alice Springs At Kings Canyon, choose from two walks. The rim walk offers stunning views and leads through the 'Lost City' and 'Garden of Eden' (requires a good degree of fitness). The canyon floor walk leads deep into the canyon, exploring the lush plant life. Travel to Alice Springs via Kings Creek Station, a working cattle ranch.

Day 4. Alice Springs Time at leisure before your transfer to the airport.
