Well, he’s at it again, but this is different.
My sweet husband left a card on the countertop this morning and a package that I haven’t opened yet. I’m waiting to open it when we are together. But I did open the card, or reopened it. It was a red envelope with a black card peeking out from the side that was torn off.
I was curious so I opened it, again. In it was a pretty black card with red shiny letters that said Always……. When I opened the card it said, “not just words, but a promise.” On the top right hand corner were the numbers 2014 and under it 2019. He’s always dated the cards he gives me.
This meant so much. For one thing, he really does mean it. I see it everyday in the little things he does for me. And for another, he takes good care of the things that are important to him, me, our family, friends, colleagues, our pets, the planet and cards.
He’s saved boxes of them over the years, but this is the first time he’s ever reused one that he gave to me. And I’ll be plenty happy to get the same card next year, and the next and the next.
Little things can mean so much.
